Who Is Julia

Julia was originally trained and educated as a medical speech-language pathologist (SLP) with a primary focus on the rehabilitation of adults with feeding and swallowing disorders. In 2011, the first of her three children were born, and she paused her professional career to stay home with her daughter. After her birth, she became passionate about lactation, and together they navigated breastfeeding, which included nursing through a second pregnancy as well as in tandem with her second child. With this passion, she began pursuing education to help mothers breastfeed, if that was their desire.

In 2015, Julia became a Certificated Lactation Education Counselor (CLEC). After several major life events, including multiple moves for her husbands’ Naval career as well as the birth of her third child, she completed further education and training in 2022 and became an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) in 2023. In 2022, Julia returned to the workforce as a medical SLP, and received additional training to work with infants with feeding impairments due to prematurity, medical fragility, or other issues (including ankyloglossia/tongue tie) that contribute to feeding challenges.

Today, these two worlds of speech language pathology and lactation consulting have merged to allow Julia to provide both lactation and infant feeding support.

When not helping mothers and babies, she can be found attending her children’s sporting events, assisting her husband with various house update projects, or cooking up a meal.
